Pumpkin beers will start being seen on the shelves in less than a week. Too Soon?

Posted on

I love them and all that, but I haven’t even gotten to try all of the summer beers that just came out (hell its less than a month into Summer..)  How many people are drinking them this early.  This time next month I would be fine with it,  but wow.  I mean I had one tomato on the vine ripen at this point and none of the peppers i planted are ripe yet either.  Granted we planted them a little late but still..

It is a bit disturbing. With upwards of 3,000 Brewer’s Association recognized breweries, everyone is clamoring for shelf space and to be First. Personally, I won’t be buying any for awhile, since I still have some high ABV ones left from last fall. How about you? Will you be buying any this summer?

Way too soon – and by the time I want one in the fall, we’ll have Christmas specials everywhere and not a Pumpkin in sight

I tend to enjoy pumpkin beer best in the early winter or very late fall. This style more than most has suffered from seasonal creep leaving nothing fresh on the shelves around Thanksgiving and Christmas, two times of the year I most associate with pumpkin. This also makes me really wonder where the brewers are getting pumpkin in late Spring? http://mrhopsbeertalk.wordpress.com/2013/10/20/i-think-its-still-just-a-bit-early-for-pumpkin-beer/
